Democratic lawmakers have made public a fresh batch of what they described as "disturbing" pictures from the property of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The opening batch of 19 images—some of which have been previously circulated—plus another 70 issued later on Friday account for a small number of the almost 100,000 images released to the House investigative panel, which is probing the behavior and associations of Epstein.
The disgraced financier was a victim of an apparent self-inflicted death in a New York detention cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking crimes.
Featured among the high-profile individuals seen in the opening set are celebrities such as movie maker Woody Allen; Microsoft creator Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin empire.
Donald Trump is pictured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is pictured with six women, whose faces are redacted.
The White House responded to the release in a official comment, charging Democrats of selectively "choosing" the photographs for political purposes and to "attempt to fabricate a false narrative."
"That partisan falsehood against President Trump has been time and again refuted," a presidential representative remarked, maintaining that "the current government has achieved more for Epstein's victims than Democrats have at any point by repeatedly calling for transparency, disclosing reams of papers, and demanding further investigations into Epstein's liberal connections."
The photographs were disclosed without context, but according to a California Democrat and ranking member of the investigative panel, they raise more questions about Epstein's connections to wealthy individuals.
"Now is the occasion to halt this White House cover-up and secure justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he said in a statement.
The publication of these documents comes as the oversight committee continuing its investigation into the affair.
