Attorney General's Statement

The nation's top law enforcement official, Pam Bondi, announced her stepping down on Monday. She commented that the court's "flawed" ruling made it impossible for her to effectively run her office.

"Do not interpret compliance for surrender," she declared. "My fight will now stretch across the country."

Judicial Challenge

Habba's exit comes a week after a judicial panel found that she had been unlawfully serving as the federal prosecutor. This decision is likely to affect scores of legal proceedings in the Garden State.

The judicial panel said that a interim role that did not receive the advice and consent of the Senate violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.
