Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
