New information has come to light regarding the shocking demises of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A source indicates citing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held without bail.
The confidential informant questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Additionally disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes descriptions of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the residence. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
