Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
