The Academy Awards to Depart Broadcast TV and Stream on the Video Platform Beginning in the Year 2029.

The Academy Awards will commence streaming exclusively on the global video platform in the year 2029, representing the most recent significant change in Hollywood.

The organization behind the Oscars revealed the news on Wednesday, stating that it finalized a long-term agreement granting YouTube the sole worldwide broadcasting rights to the Oscars up to 2033.

The awards show, scheduled for March 15th, has been televised for five decades on the traditional network. Beginning in 2029, the ceremony will be viewable as a free live stream on the digital platform.

It's a further substantial shakeup in the entertainment world, which is navigating corporate acquisitions and consolidations, coupled with steep reductions in filming.

"The Academy is an worldwide body, and this alliance will allow us to expand access to the mission of the Academy to the biggest global viewership imaginable - which will be positive for our film artists and the movie industry," stated the Academy's executives in a announcement.
