A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of music creators. The track features a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the initiative have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the area was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
